Job Description

Supervises Respiratory Care personnel as assigned Provides therapeutic, diagnostic and educational respiratory services for patients of all populations in all patient care areas and others as required. Responsible for performing clinical assessments to modify care in accordance with clinical protocols in a timely manner. Demonstrates knowledge of the organization's Service Standards and incorporates them into the performance of Duties.

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessment and review of the patient's medical record to recommend and provide clinically indicated therapy

Performance Criteria:

  • Reviews the patient's medical record for patient history, test results and other pertinent information.
  • Utilizes methods of inspection, auscultation, percussion and/or palpation to determine respiratory care needs.
  • Provides appropriate interventions based on the assessment findings.
  • Communicates significant findings, actions taken and care recommendations with the treatment team in a timely fashion.
  • Documents assessment findings and any actions taken in the patient's medical record.

All other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

1. Graduation from an Associate Degree program in Respiratory Therapy approved by the New York State Board of Education or a program determined equivalent in accordance with the Commissioner of the State Board of Education's regulations; and,
2. Possession of a current license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in the State of New York; and,
3. Possession of current registration as a Respiratory Therapist issued by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
