CCPN Cook Children's Physician Network is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for an inpatient hematology/oncology unit in Fort Worth. Ideal candidates have pediatric hematology/oncology or acute care experience and hold Texas licensure (APRN or PA).

Qualifications

  • APRNs must hold a Texas RN license and APRN licensure as required.
  • PAs require a Texas PA license and PA-C certification.
  • Prefer pediatric hematology/oncology or acute care experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a busy inpatient hematology/oncology unit in collaboration with physicians.
  • Perform patient assessment, diagnosis and intervention under approved protocols.
  • Support physician in developing and maintaining patient care plans.
  • Provide coverage during physician absences and coordinate cross‑specialty care.
  • Perform procedures including bone marrow aspirates/biopsies and lumbar punctures.

Shift: First Shift (United States of America)

Standard Weekly Hours: 40

Summary

We are searching for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant who is motivated to work with Hematology/Oncology patients on a busy inpatient unit. This full-time position will support our general Oncology population. Prior Hematology/Oncology experience preferred. Functions in collaborative practice with physician(s) in the inpatient setting for medically complex oncology patients. Autonomously performs patient assessment, diagnosis, and intervention according to approved protocols. Supports physician to develop and maintain patients. Collaborates with specialties and maintains continuity of care. Provides coverage for physician(s) during periods of absence. Prescribes a variety of modalities to meet wellness and illness needs, up to and including hospital admission/discharge and prescriptive authority. Perform procedures including but not limited to bone marrow aspirates and biopsies and lumbar punctures.

Education / Experience
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurses
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience or related specialized area strongly preferred.
  • Physician Assistants
  • Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies strongly preferred
  • Minimum of two years Pediatric primary/specialty or acute care setting experience OR 2 years' experience in related allied health field (i.e. family practice setting with heavy component of pediatric patients) strongly preferred.
Certification / Licensure
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurses
  • Current Texas professional registered nurse license
  • Current Texas professional advance practice registered nurse license
  • Recognition from the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advanced Practice Nurse
  • Certification as Pediatric or Family Practice Nurse Practitioner
  • Current Basic Life Support (CPR) required
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred*
  • Physician Assistants
  • Current Texas professional physician assistant license
  • Recognition from the Texas State Medical Board as a Physician Assistant.
  • Certification as a Physician Assistant PA-C required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (CPR) required
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred*
  • * PALS certification is required when assigned to Anesthesiology, Care Team, Complex Care, Fostering Health, H/O, Nephrology, and Neurology departments.
