Job summary

Rochester Gas & Elec Corp in Rochester, NY is seeking an Associate Engineer - Protection & Control to handle engineering activities in electric transmission and substation protection across AVANGRID and its subsidiaries. You will ensure designs meet applicable codes and standards for safe, timely operation.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or related field and awareness of power system protection standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required in Electrical Engineering / Technology.
Knowledge of power systems and related standards.
Familiarity with national/international standards and compliance related to power system protection.

Responsibilities

Perform analysis of the electric transmission and substation protection for Disturbance Monitoring and Reporting, Protection System Misoperation Identification and Correction, Protection System Maintenance, Automatic Underfrequency Load Shedding, Remedial Action Schemes, Transmission Relay Loadability, Relay Performance During Stable Power Swings, and Coordination of Protection Systems.
Review and approve work of engineering contractors.
Define, maintain, and update company processes to ensure compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.
Review and update internal processes and performance indicators.
Audit internal company processes and supporting evidentiary documentation for compliance verification.
Monitor and manage projects related to corrective action plans.
Participate in audit preparation and regional/national committees (NPCC, NERC, auditors).
Manage compliance programs applicable to substation assets.
Travel to worksites as needed.
