Job summary

ROCHESTER GAS & ELECTRIC CORP is seeking a Lead Engineer – Protection & Control to oversee protection engineering for transmission and substation projects. The role involves guiding engineering design, testing, and commissioning, with a focus on reliability and safety across AVANGRID operations.

The candidate will mentor engineers, coordinate with affiliates, and apply advanced protection technology and standards. Requires 7+ years in protection engineering and a PE license preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
• Master’s Degree preferred.
• Professional engineering license preferred.
• A minimum of 7+ years of technical experience in protection engineering or related field.
• Expert knowledge of engineering standards and compliance for power system protection.

Responsibilities

• Guide design, estimation, and analysis of transmission/substation protection systems.
• Develop system protection platform for AVANGRID and coordinate with affiliates; integration and commissioning plans.
• Oversee studies to evaluate equipment and protection system performance.
• Provide fault analysis reports to management with corrective actions and lessons learned.
• Represent the company on regional and national committees.
• Lead the Protection Engineering group’s technical development.
