Job summary

MGE Underground is seeking an Associate Project Manager to organize and control project elements from conception to completion. You will forecast resources, manage activities, and drive on-budget, on-time project delivery while coordinating with Superintendents, subcontractors, and the client team.

Responsibilities include creating schedules, writing proposals and RFIs, and handling billing and WIP reporting, with travel to job sites as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3 years of verifiable utility construction management with degree OR 5 years without degree.
  • Valid Class C Driver’s License; clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all phases of the project cycle: pre-fielding, estimating, development, construction, billing, and final acceptance.
  • Coordinate with Superintendents on daily schedules, manpower, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Assist in creating the baseline schedule from the job estimate.
  • Write proposals, RFIs, and letters of intent.
  • Schedule and attend pre-construction with Project Managers and Superintendents.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders regarding plans, problems, and timelines.

How You Can Make an Impact

As an Associate Project Manager, you will be responsible for completing all assigned tasks by organizing and controlling all elements of a project. This position will schedule, plan, forecast, resource, and manage all activities aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality from conception to completion. Your ultimate responsibility is to bring a budgeted and successful project to life while satisfying all parties involved.

How You Will Contribute
  • Participate in all phases of the project cycle: pre-fielding, estimating, development, construction, billing, and final acceptance.
  • Coordinate with the Superintendents regarding daily schedules, including manpower, equipment, materials, subcontractors, suppliers, etc.
  • Assist in creating the baseline schedule from the job estimate.
  • Write effective proposals, RFIs, and letters of intent.
  • Schedule and attend pre-construction with Project Managers and Superintendents.
  • Communicates with internal team, public officials, general public, and customers regarding project plans & designs, identified problems, proposed solutions, and estimated time frames.
  • Create sub-contract agreements and manage sub-contractors.
  • Review daily timecards/quantities and generate master/field files.
  • Responsible for assisting with billings, WIP reports, forecasts, project cash flow, etc.
  • Ability to manage and complete several projects concurrently, depending on scope and complexity.
  • Interprets applicable codes, industry standards, and regulations and educates others.
  • Ensure adherence to all Company safety policies and OSHA safety standards.
  • Travel to job sites when needed.
  • Responsible for the supervision and training of Senior Construction Project Coordinators and Construction Project Coordinators.
What You Bring to the Table
  • Knowledge of construction procedures.
  • Understands the process of building a job from start to finish.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, plans, specs, contracts, and purchase orders.
  • Proficient in planning, scheduling, and production.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent analytical and planning skills.
  • Organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes regarding MGE’s policies, procedures, and software programs.
Your Prior Experience
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Required: 3 years of verifiable utility construction management experience with a degree OR 5 years of verifiable utility construction management experience without a degree.
  • Required: Valid Class C Driver’s License; clean driving record and no driving restrictions.
  • Preferred: B.S. Degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management
  • Preferred: Experience in estimating.
Our Competitive Package

Pay: $125,000 to $147,000 annually

This pay range is our competitive compensation at the time of this job posting. Your pay will be determined based on experience, education, skills, and applicable knowledge.
