Job summary

Group PMX is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support transportation infrastructure projects. You will assist in scheduling, budgeting, reporting, and stakeholder coordination, working closely with engineers, clients, and agencies.

The role requires 2–5 years in project coordination or assistant PM positions, familiarity with DOT processes, and proficiency in MS Project, Smartsheet, and Primavera P6.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Civil or Transportation Engineering.
  • 2–5 years of project coordination or assistant PM experience in transportation/infrastructure.
  • Experience with highways, bridges, transit, rail, airports or municipal programs.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with DOT/public-sector processes; PMP/CAPM/CCM is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing schedules, budgets, and deliverables for transportation projects.
  • Coordinate meetings, track action items, and maintain project documentation.
  • Support communication between internal teams, clients, public agencies, consultants, contractors, and vendors.
  • Monitor project progress and identify risks, issues, and schedule impacts.
  • Assist with planning, permitting, stakeholder coordination, and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and executive summaries for leadership and clients.
  • Support contract administration, change orders, budget monitoring, and invoicing.
  • Ensure compliance with PM processes and transportation industry standards.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-orientedAssistant Project Managerwith a background intransportation infrastructure projectsto support the successful planning, execution, and delivery of projects. This role will work closely with Project Managers, engineers, clients, agency stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to ensure schedules, budgets, quality standards, and project objectives are achieved.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing project schedules, budgets, and deliverables for transportation-related projects, including highways, roads, bridges, transit, rail, airport, and other infrastructure initiatives.
  • Coordinate meetings, track action items, and maintain project documentation, including reports, submittals, and agency correspondence.
  • Support communication between internal teams, clients, public agencies, consultants, contractors, and vendors.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively identify project risks, issues, and potential schedule impacts.
  • Assist with project planning, permitting, stakeholder coordination, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Help prepare reports, presentations, project status updates, and executive summaries for leadership and clients.
  • Support contract administration, change order tracking, budget monitoring, and invoicing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with company processes, project management best practices, and applicable transportation industry standards and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of project coordination, assistant project management, or project controls experience, preferably within thetransportation, infrastructure, engineering, or construction industry.
  • Experience supporting transportation projects such as highways, bridges, transit systems, rail, airports, or municipal infrastructure programs.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Primavera P6, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with DOT, transit agency, or public-sector project delivery processes is preferred.
  • PMP, CAPM, CCM, or related certifications are a plus.
