Job summary

Pieper Electric in Wisconsin is seeking an organized Associate Project Manager to support planning, coordination, financial control, and closeout of electrical construction projects. This hands-on role builds practical PM skills while you work with project and field leadership to keep projects safe, on schedule, and financially on track.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager through all phases of assigned projects, from turnover and planning through closeout.
  • Maintain organized project files, logs, correspondence, meeting notes, and contract documentation.
  • Track schedules, milestones, deliverables, and short-term look-ahead activities.
  • Coordinate with field leadership regarding manpower, material needs, access, sequencing, and jobsite priorities.
  • Prepare, submit, and track submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and other project documentation.
  • Maintain current drawings, specifications, bulletins, redlines, and project records.
  • Assemble O&M manuals, warranties, as-built documentation, and turnover packages.
  • Assist with material and equipment buyout, purchase orders, release schedules, and delivery coordination.
  • Monitor long-lead items and communicate potential impacts before they affect field production.
  • Coordinate with vendors to verify pricing, quantities, lead times, shipping status, and invoice accuracy.
  • Assist with job-cost tracking, budget updates, labor productivity reviews, and cost-to-complete forecasting.
  • Identify potential scope changes and help prepare change-order pricing and supporting documentation.
  • Track pending changes, commitments, customer billing, vendor invoices, and subcontractor costs.
  • Support estimate turnover, project planning, and required internal project review processes.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Pieper Electric is seeking an organized, driven Associate Project Manager to support the planning, coordination, financial control, and closeout of electrical construction projects. This is a hands-on development role for someone who wants to build the practical skills needed to become a successful Project Manager.


Working alongside project and field leadership, the APM will help keep projects safe, organized, on schedule, and financially on track while maintaining clear communication with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.


What You Will Do

Project Coordination


  • Assist the Project Manager through all phases of assigned projects, from turnover and planning through closeout.

  • Maintain organized project files, logs, correspondence, meeting notes, and contract documentation.

  • Track schedules, milestones, deliverables, and short-term look-ahead activities.

  • Coordinate with field leadership regarding manpower, material needs, access, sequencing, and jobsite priorities.


Document Control & Closeout


  • Prepare, submit, and track submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and other project documentation.

Cost Control & Change Management

  • Track pending changes, commitments, customer billing, vendor invoices, and subcontractor costs.

  • Support estimate turnover, project planning, and required internal project review processes.


Safety, Quality & Customer Service


  • Promote a safety-first mindset and support company and project-specific safety requirements.

  • Assist with quality control documentation, inspections, punch-list tracking, and issue resolution.

  • Participate in project meetings and site visits, communicate professionally, and follow through on commitments.


What You Bring


  • Associate degree, technical degree, bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in electrical construction, construction management, engineering, estimating, project coordination, or field supervision.

  • Working knowledge of electrical construction methods, materials, drawings, and specifications.

  • Strong organization, follow-through, written communication, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate issues early.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.

  • Willingness to visit active jobsites and travel locally as project needs require.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience with electrical estimating, change-order pricing, purchasing, document control, or job-cost tracking.

  • Familiarity with Bluebeam, Procore, Accubid, Microsoft Project, or comparable construction software.

  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and commercial, industrial, or institutional electrical construction.

CAREER PATH

This position is intended to provide broad project exposure and a practical path toward increased project ownership. Typical progression may include Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager, and Senior Project Manager or Operations Leadership roles, based on performance, experience, and business needs.


Physical & Jobsite Requirements


  • Ability to work in an office environment and visit active construction sites.

  • Ability to walk uneven terrain, climb stairs or ladders, and comply with required personal protective equipment.

  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for local jobsite travel.
