Job summary

Slate is seeking a versatile associate producer to help shape What Next and What Next: TBD, working across audio and video. The role involves pitching, booking, prepping, recording, writing, editing, and mixing, with mentorship and growth opportunities.

The position can be in Slate’s New York or D.C. office, with remote work possible for the right candidate. Base pay ranges from $75,000 to $81,000, reflecting experience and location.

Qualifications

• Two+ years of experience in radio or podcasting in a journalistic environment.
• Two+ years of experience with professional audio-editing software, preferably Pro Tools.
• Proficiency with video production software including DaVinci Resolve or Adobe Premiere.
• Excellent writing skills and strong story sense.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a host and team to conceive and develop episodes.
• Implement notes quickly and sensitively in scripts.
• Pull tape and images for use in audio and video edits.
• Arrange interviews and oversee recording sessions, including remote connections.
• Mix episodes, including sound design and audio corrections.
