Slate seeks a versatile associate producer for our daily news podcasts What Next and What Next: TBD. The role involves developing episodes, coordinating interviews, and editing for both audio and video. Opportunity to grow with mentorship and expand responsibilities.

Location can be New York or Washington, DC, with remote work considered for the right candidate. Base pay ranges from $75,000 to $81,000 annually under a collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications

• Excellent writing skills and story sense.
• Experience in radio or podcasting in a journalistic environment is required.
• Ability to conduct and prep interviews and manage production timelines.

Responsibilities

• Conceive and develop episodes with a host and producers.
• Implement script notes quickly and sensitively.
• Pull tape and images for audio and video edits.
• Help arrange interviews and oversee recording sessions, including remote connections.
• Engage in episode mixing, including scoring and sound design.
• Book guests, stringers, and studios; prep hosts for interviews.
