You will be joining the Analytical Development team within Development Services in Lonza Singapore, Science Park Facility, focusing on protein characterization using mass spectrometry and other analytical methods.

Join the Analytical Development team in Lonza Singapore, Science Park Facility. Focus on protein characterization using mass spectrometry. The Development Services group develops manufacturing processes for therapeutic proteins for Lonza's clients. You will collaborate with peers across teams to ensure meticulous execution of projects and proactively identify and implement technical and operational improvements. This role offers an outstanding chance to input into significant scientific advancements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To lead major or complex work/projects simultaneously while ensuring scientific objective and timelines are met by improving efficiency of current methodology and developing new solutions.

  • To work independently and be able to identify and implement innovative LC MS/MS solutions for characterization of biotherapeutic proteins.

  • Provide support and mentoring to junior colleagues with planning, execution, troubleshooting of project stages and encourage development of MS users and system owners.

  • Communicate with external customers to demonstrate Lonza’s scientific credibility and grow relationships.

  • Manage multiple studies and discuss data changes/discrepancies (through both written reports and verbal presentations).

  • Deliver high quality communication to ensure an outstanding customer experience (written reports, teleconferences and face to face meetings).

  • Manage operational improvements within the characterization team and share project outcomes with relevant customers.

  • Input into department technology strategy based on industry trends and support the Characterization team in maintaining offerings in line with industry and regulatory expectations.

  • Execution of assigned assays with a focus on safety, quality, timeliness and accuracy adhering to regulatory requirements, where appropriate.

  • Test methods employed include, but are not limited to, techniques using capillary electrophoresis, HPLC/UPLC, spectrophotometry, ELISAs, LC-MS (peptide mapping, intact mass analysis and oligosaccharide profiling), SEC-MALS, etc.

  • Maintenance of analytical equipment, technologies and/or systems to support characterization stages may be required.

  • Coordinate communication among Singapore and global Lonza departments relevant to expertise.

  • Become established as a Subject Matter Expert in one or more specific area(s).

  • Uphold data integrity principle in accordance to Lonza policies. Proactively evaluate, identify and improve data integrity process.

Key Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant Science field

  • Minimum 4-7 years work experience in recombinant protein analyses or PhD or equivalent experience with 2-5 years’ postdoctoral relevant recombinant protein analyses experience.

  • Experience working in a cGxP/CMC analytical environment would also be considered advantageous.

  • Extensive and proven experience in developing and troubleshooting analytical methodology for protein analysis with key focus on Mass Spectrometry.

  • Familiarity with a range of mass spectrometry platforms such as Quadrupole Orbitrap MS, Tribrid Orbitrap MS or Q ToF MS.

  • Proven record of leading method development projects for protein analysis including experimental design, execution and interpretation of complex datasets.

  • Experience with a range of analytical methods for protein characterization such as liquid chromatography (e.g RP, SEC, HILIC), capillary electrophoresis and LC MS/MS.

  • Experience in performing forced degradation, biochemical comparability, charge and size variants characterization in accordance to regulatory requirements.

  • Theoretical knowledge of protein chemistry and protein structure (primary and higher order structure).

  • Capability to critically analyze data, interpret results and communicate outcomes to external customers and internal stakeholders.

  • Successfully developed junior colleagues' skills, especially in LC-MS/MS techniques training.

  • Clear understanding of the relevant ICH guidelines in the area of protein characterization.
