Job description

Associate, Power, Utilities & Infrastructure Investment Banking

New York, NY

We are representing a leading global investment bank that is continuing to invest aggressively in its Power, Utilities & Infrastructure investment banking platform in New York.

The group has expanded rapidly in recent years and is now looking to add an Associate to a lean, high-performing team with an exceptionally strong pipeline of live M&A and strategic advisory assignments.

This is an opportunity to join a platform with the deal flow, senior banker pedigree and momentum of a leading franchise, while still offering Associates meaningful responsibility and exposure to senior clients.

THE OPPORTUNITY-

The team has grown significantly and today includes four Managing Directors alongside a deep bench of VPs, Associates and Analysts, with further hiring underway.

The group is currently advising on a broad range of transactions across power, utilities and energy infrastructure, including:

  • A recently announced $3bn utility acquisition
  • A multi-billion-dollar sell-side involving a power and district energy platform
  • An active ~$500m solar acquisition
  • An active ~$1bn strategic restructuring / transaction
  • A wider pipeline spanning power generation, utilities, renewables and infrastructure

You will work directly alongside senior bankers with backgrounds at several of the world's leading investment banking franchises.

The group remains relatively lean despite its growing deal pipeline, creating substantial opportunity for high-performing Associates to take on responsibility early.

WHAT YOU'LL DO-

As an Associate, you will play a central role in the execution of M&A and strategic advisory transactions across the Power & Utilities sector.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Building and reviewing complex financial and M&A models
  • Performing valuation analysis across public and private companies
  • Supporting the execution of buy-side, sell-side and strategic advisory assignments
  • Conducting company, industry and market analysis
  • Preparing client presentations, transaction materials and internal memoranda
  • Coordinating diligence and transaction processes
  • Working directly with senior bankers and clients throughout live transactions
  • Reviewing the work of Analysts and helping develop junior members of the team
  • Building knowledge across power generation, utilities, renewables and broader energy infrastructure
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR-

We are particularly interested in candidates currently operating at the Associate 2 or Associate 3 level, although strong recently promoted Analysts and other experienced Associates will also be considered.

The most important requirement is technical strength.

You should have:

  • Strong investment banking experience
  • Excellent financial modelling, valuation and analytical skills
  • Meaningful M&A or transaction execution experience
  • The ability to operate effectively in a demanding, high-volume deal environment
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • A collaborative approach to working with senior and junior colleagues

Prior Power & Utilities experience is preferred, particularly exposure to power generation or energy infrastructure, although exceptional candidates from adjacent investment banking sectors will be considered.

COMPENSATION-

Indicative historical compensation levels for the platform have been above-market, ranging from $285-400K in total cash compensation for Associate 1-3’s.

Base salaries have historically ranged from approximately $175k to $225k, depending on level and experience.

There is some flexibility for exceptional candidates. The bank can also consider bonus buyouts.

  • offers relocation assistance for candidates moving to New York.
WHY CONSIDER IT-

For someone looking to build a long-term career in Power & Utilities investment banking, this offers a compelling combination:

A growing franchise. A significant live deal pipeline. Highly credentialed senior bankers. And a lean team where strong performers can gain meaningful execution responsibility quickly.
