Job summary

The Village of Lincolnwood, IL, is seeking an Associate Planner to assist with permit approvals and support projects reviewed by the Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Community Development, the Associate Planner supports the Village’s planning and zoning functions through application review, research, and preparation of materials for the Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, Geography, public administration or a similar field is required.
• Experience with GIS, graphic design tools, and Microsoft Office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with the review of variation and permit applications for compliance with Village codes, ordinances, and adopted plans.
• Assists with providing applicants with technical assistance through the zoning entitlement and development review process from pre-application meetings through final approvals.
• Assists with staff reports, recommendations, meeting agendas, minutes, correspondence, and supporting documentation for the Village Board, Plan Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals, and other boards and commissions as assigned.
• Provides support for counter inquiries and phone calls related to general Community Development matters, including zoning inquiries.
• Conducts research and analysis related to planning, zoning, land use, demographics, housing, redevelopment, transportation, and economic development topics.
• Maintains accurate planning records, files, maps, databases, and reports in accordance with Village policies and procedures.
• Assists with data entry, management, and clean-up tasks for the upcoming ERP software implementation.
• Prepares graphics, maps, presentations, and public information materials utilizing GIS, graphic design, and related software tools.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
