Job summary

The Village of Carpentersville is seeking a full-time Senior Planner to join the Community Development Department. The Planner performs professional planning work related to zoning administration, development review, land use planning, and other community development functions such as permit review and processing as well as assisting the code compliance division.

This position works closely with residents, businesses, developers, property owners, Village staff, boards and commissions, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in urban planning or land-use or closely related field.
• 3–5 years of progressively responsible planning experience.
• Strong understanding of zoning principles, standards, and laws.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional planning work related to zoning administration, development review, and land use planning.
• Assist with permit review and processing and support the code compliance division.
• Serve as liaison to residents, businesses, developers, and Village boards and staff.
• Oversee or supervise consultants, interns, or temporary staff as assigned.
