About the Opportunity

We seek a full-time Associate Planner for our Community Development Department in Oxnard, California. This is an in-office role, working a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off.

You will contribute to urban development, engage with community stakeholders, and support current planning projects.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing development proposals and processing applications
  • Managing small to mid-sized development projects
  • Ensuring compliance with zoning and land use policies
  • Preparing reports and presenting to boards and City Council
  • Performing plan reviews, issuing permits, and assisting customers
  • Preparing environmental assessments per CEQA
  • Responding to inquiries and conducting site visits
  • Supporting planning projects and maintaining tracking systems
  • Collaborating with community members, developers, and internal teams

About You

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Urban or Regional Planning, Economics, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or related field, a California Class C Driver’s License, and a satisfactory driving record.

You should have at least 2 years of professional planning experience. Preferred skills include experience with public-facing planning counters, processing applications, and preparing reports. Strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills are highly valued.
