Job summary

Michael Kors is seeking an Associate Planner to analyze financial plans and performance across the Full Price Sized business (apparel and footwear). You will collaborate with the buying team to manage open-to-buy, develop assortments, and shape merchandising strategies.

The role requires strong analytical skills, advanced Excel and retail math, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, fashion-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Finance, or related field.
  • 3+ years’ experience in Retail Planning, Store Planning and/or Allocation.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Advanced Retail Math.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop financial strategy for a rapidly growing retail business across the full price sized business (apparel and footwear).
  • Create seasonal, monthly, and weekly plans and forecasts for sales, inventory, markdowns and gross margin.
  • Monitor performance and partner with buying team to develop merchandise strategies to achieve plans.
  • Make pricing recommendations based on analysis.
  • Manage monthly open-to-buy and allocate merchandise accordingly.
  • Recommend buys to increase sales, profitability and sell-through.

Who You Are:

The Associate Planner will play a key role in developing financial plans and monitoring the performance of sales, inventory, and profit for the Full Price Sized (apparel, footwear) business. The Associate Planner will work closely with the buying team to manage the open-to-buy, analyze seasonal merchandise assortments, and develop merchandising strategies. You have strong analytical skills and creative problem-solving skills, are curious, collaborative and an effective communicator that thrives in a rapidly changing environment.

What You’ll Do:
  • Initiate analysis and develop financial strategy for a rapidly growing retail business across the full price sized business (apparel and footwear).
  • Create seasonal, monthly, and weekly plans and forecasts for sales, inventory, markdowns and gross margin.
  • Monitor performance and partner with buying team to develop merchandise strategies to achieve plans.
  • Play an active role in making pricing recommendations.
  • Initiate and develop actionable analysis to recap business by classification and subclass at a top-line as well as store level.
  • Partner with buying team to create strategies to drive sales and achieve gross margin profitability.
  • Manage and update monthly open-to-buy.
  • Recommend buys based on thorough analysis of retail business prior to each market to achieve increased sales, profitability and sell-thru %.
  • Provide suggested SKU count targets at a class and store cluster level.
  • Analyze key item style performance and forecast inventory needs.
  • Work with buying team and stores to analyze business by door to maximize sales and stock opportunities.
  • Monitor flow of initial assortments as well as reorders to stores by classification and by style.
  • Aid in allocation strategies to increase productivity and manage omni-inventory.
You’ll Need to Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Finance, or related field.
  • Must have 3+ years’ experience in Retail Planning, Store Planning and/or Allocation.
  • Advanced Excel Skills.
  • Advanced Retail Math.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Passion for fashion trends and consumer behavior.

Please note that for salaried roles, the figures reflect full-time equivalency, while for hourly roles, the figures represent the applicable hourly rate. Compensation Range: 75,000.00 - 85,000.00 USD.
