Job summary

Amazon.com, Inc. is seeking an Associate Physical Security Engineer to lead security designs for data centers across the Americas.

You will develop safe, resilient security concepts for DC facilities and work with Architects, Engineers, and Designers to resolve problems and advance security requirements. You will partner with AWS Security teams and external consultants to apply physical security measures, CPTED concepts, and scalable design standards, while contributing to a culture of inclusion

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• NETA or ASHRAE certification or commissioning specific education courses.
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers.
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
• Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems.
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
• Experience using a variety of web-based and other software tools for calculation and data processing.

Responsibilities

• Lead designs (construction drawings and specifications) for physical security elements for DC projects; collaborate with a Sr. Physical Security Engineer.
• Collaborate with other security organizations within AWS to develop design standards, evaluate cost, risk and benefits of designs and facilitate design discussions.
• Communicate conceptual designs to internal stakeholders and external consultants.
• Participate in the maintenance of basis of design, prototype design, and template specifications for physical security elements.
• Review and direct the work of physical security engineering design consultants.
• Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
• Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with design consultants; anticipated travel not to exceed 25%.
