Associate Pharmacy Care Technician will make outbound calls to members and physicians to improve medication adherence and other pharmacy related quality metrics. Responsible for gathering prescription refill orders and providing excellent customer service as well as determining the eligibility of members applying for the Medical Assistance Program.

Hours: Monday – Friday, 9am – 6pm + rotating Saturdays every 4 weeks (Training will be for the first 4 weeks and will be Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm)

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct a high volume of outbound calls to members to discuss reasons for non-compliance to medication(s), schedule pharmacy telephonic appointments, and/or obtain important follow-up information from providers.
  2. May answer inbound calls from members and assist them with their inquiries.
  3. Follows system scripting and validates member demographic information.
  4. Documents the provider or member's record with accurate information obtained on the call.
  5. Performs desk and on-site review of all claims documentation to validate correct billing.
  6. Provides support to internal staff, subcontractors, and providers with respect to Medicare drug-related issues.
  7. Participates in and contributes to the overall pharmacy quality improvement initiatives.
  8. Collects and maintains eligibility information in an appropriate and confidential manner.
  9. Enters all assigned applications within a specified time frame to ensure eligibility deadlines are met.
  10. Exhibits excellent phone and communication skills while providing complete and accurate information to members.
  11. Requests additional or supplemental information via correspondence to complete applications.
  12. Adheres to assigned schedule and quality metrics.
  13. Uses a multi-lined telephonic system to answer calls regarding eligibility requirements and medication refill orders.
  14. Follows all policy and procedures for the Medical Assistance Program.
  15. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
  16. Ability to use fine motor skills to operate office equipment and/or machinery.
  17. Ability to receive and comprehend instructions verbally and/or in writing.
  18. Ability to use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem solving.

Required Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma / GED (or higher).
  2. Active and unrestricted Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Texas.
  3. National Pharmacy Technician Certification (Certified Pharmacy Technician CPhT).
  4. 1+ years of experience in a customer service setting.
  5. 6+ months of previous call center experience.
  6. Basic level of proficiency with Medicare Part D.
  7. Basic level of proficiency with HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules.
  8. Basic level of proficiency with writing skills.
  9. Basic level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, Internet, and e-mail.
  10. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. 1+ years of experience in a pharmacy setting.
  2. Bilingual (any language).
  3. PBM experience.
  4. Advanced knowledge of NCPDP and other types of prescription drug claims.
  5. Knowledge of Medicare Part B and Part D coverage guidelines.
