The Associate Pharmacy Care Technician will effectively support the successful implementation and execution of all pharmacy programs and processes. The Associate Pharmacy Care Technician will provide support to the pharmacy staff to ensure applicable program processes and operational responsibilities are met. This position will also provide support in troubleshooting any member issues identified by the pharmacy staff during member outreach calls. May serve as a subject matter expert for the Pharmacy team.

Schedule: Monday to Friday 9:00am to 6:00pm CST with rotating Saturdays from 8:00am to 5:00pm CST

Location: 19500 W Interstate 10, Building One, Second Floor, San Antonio, Texas, 78257

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a high volume of outbound calls to members to discuss reasons for non-compliance to medication(s), schedule pharmacy telephonic appointments, and/or obtain important follow-up information from providers. Outbound calls are made primarily using an auto-dialer requiring precision to detail and adaptability to type of response needed.
  • May answer inbound calls from members and assists them with their inquiries. Routes calls to appropriate department if necessary.
  • Follows system scripting and validates member demographic information.
  • Documents the provider or member's record with accurate information obtained on the call.
  • Performs desk and on-site review of all claims documentation to validate correct billing and that payment made to contracted pharmacies is supported and appropriate.
  • Provides support to internal staff, subcontractors, and providers with respect to Medicare drug-related issues.
  • Participates in and contributes to the overall pharmacy quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collects and maintains eligibility information in an appropriate and confidential manner.
  • Exhibits excellent phone and communication skills while providing complete and accurate information to members.
  • Adheres to assigned schedule and quality metrics.
  • Uses a multi-lined telephonic system to answer calls regarding eligibility requirements and medication refill orders.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher).
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician CPhT (Must have national certification and be licensed in the state of Texas).
  • 1+ years of customer service experience.
  • 6+ months of experience in a call center setting.
  • Basic level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in a physician’s clinic or hospital.
  • 6+ months medical terminology knowledge base.
  • Knowledge of the Medicare Part D, particularly the pharmacy record review, claims, billing, and reimbursement rules.
  • Bilingual language proficiency (English/Spanish).

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet all deadlines.

**PLEASE NOTE** The sign-on bonus is only available to external candidates. Candidates who are currently working for UnitedHealth Group, UnitedHealthcare or a related entity in a full-time, part-time or per diem basis ("Internal Candidates") are not eligible to receive a sign-on bonus.

The salary range for this role is $16.00 to $28.85 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
