Optum is seeking an Associate Patient Care Coordinator (WellMed Family Practice/Adult Medicine) to support front-office functions, including patient registration, insurance checks, payments, and scheduling. The role involves greeting patients, handling intake, and managing medical records with accuracy.

Schedule typically Monday–Friday 8am–5pm CST, with occasional 7:30am–4:30pm shifts. Location at 19114 US Highway 281 North, San Antonio, TX 78258, with possible training travel.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in a medical office or medical facility preferred.
• Experience verifying insurance and collecting payments helpful.
• Customer service experience, in person or by phone, is required.
• Data entry and admin tasks experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and manage wait time.
• Assist with intake, documents, and eligibility checks.
• Collect co-payments and deductibles and issue receipts.
• Process walk-in patients and answer phones.
• Schedule appointments and answer questions or route calls.
• Manage medical records and ensure timely filing/scanning.
• Process requests for medical records release and logs.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

The Associate Patient Care Coordinator (WellMed Family Practice/Adult Medicine) is responsible for general clinic office functions that support efficient and effective patient care including patient registration, insurance verification, collection of applicable co-insurance and/or co-payments and scheduling of diagnostic and follow-up appointments and answering phones.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm CST. Rotating 7:30am-4:30pm CST depending on business need.

Location:

19114 US Highway 281 North, San Antonio, TX 78258. May be required to travel to a corporate location for training.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Greets patients as they arrive and manages 20-minute wait time
• Assists patient with intake processes, including copying required documents
• Collects co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles and issues receipts
• Processes walk-in patients and visitors
• Answers phones and schedules appointments
• Answer telephone calls, re-direct calls as appropriate, assist callers with questions or concerns, and take messages as needed
• Manages medical records (maintains, files/scans, prepares for schedule)
• Ensures all correspondence is scanned and/or filed in a timely manner
• Processes requests for medical records release and maintains appropriate logs, etc.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED
• 1+ years of experience in a medical office or medical facility
• 1+ years of experience with insurance verification
• 1+ years of face-to-face or telephonic customer service experience
• 1+ years of data entry experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
