Job summary

UnitedHealth Group, via Optum, is seeking an Associate Patient Care Coordinator for the Primary Care/Internal Medicine front office. You will schedule appointments, register patients, process payments, and support charting using EMR systems.

The role requires a High School Diploma/GED and 1+ year of healthcare customer service. Expect a Monday–Friday 7:30am–5pm EST shift, with potential coverage at Tallmadge location.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ year of customer service experience, preferably in healthcare.
  • Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

  • Take messages for providers and manage forms (FMLA/Disability/BMV).
  • Collect copays and patient balances at check-in.
  • Request and retrieve records from offices and hospitals.
  • Prep charts and scan documents.
  • Verify insurance coverage and eligibility in EMR.
  • Document information in patient charts using EMR.
  • Coordinate physician schedules and patient visits.
  • Ensure patient insurance information is up to date in EMR.

The Associate Patient Care Coordinator (Primary Care/Internal Medicine) is responsible to the Center Administrator and provides appointment scheduling, patient registration, cashiering, answers incoming calls and performs other related clerical functions. This primary role provides front office support functions.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8-hour shift between the hours of 7:30am-5pm EST. Schedule to be determined by manager upon hire.

Location: 307 W. Main St. Kent, OH. Training and coverage may be required at Tallmadge location (116 East Ave, Ste 3, Tallmadge, OH 44278), depending on business need.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Taking messages for providers, handling forms: FMLA/Disability/BMV
  • Collecting copays and patient balances that are due at time of check in
  • Requesting records and retrieving records from offices/hospitals
  • Prepping charts, scanning documents
  • Verifies patient insurance coverage and eligibility utilizing computer-based patient registration / scheduling system
  • Documents appropriate information in patient's charts using an electronic medical records system
  • Completes and maintains physician's schedules, coordinating patient visits and medical procedures
  • Ensure patient insurance information through EMR system

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1+ years of customer services experience and/or experience working in a healthcare environment
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience utilizing electronic medical records
  • Medical office experience
  • Advanced level of proficiency with the use of PC, typing capabilities and various software applications such as Microsoft Word and Outlook
Soft Skills:
  • Proven excellent customer service skills and ability to multi-task necessary
