UnitedHealth Group, through Optum, is seeking a patient-focused customer service professional in Carrollton, TX. You will answer inbound calls about appointments, greet patients, schedule, verify insurance eligibility, obtain authorizations, register patients, collect co-pays, and coordinate with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow.

The role emphasizes compassionate service, accurate data entry, and clear communication.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED.
• 1+ years of customer service experience.
• Basic level of proficiency in MS Office.
• Previous experience with an EMR system.

Responsibilities

• Answer inbound calls from patients and providers regarding appointments and general inquiries.
• Greeting and assist patients in person and by phone, ensuring a positive patient experience.
• Schedule appointments, verify insurance eligibility, and obtain required authorizations.
• Register patients accurately by collecting and updating demographic, insurance, and medical information.
• Collect co-pays and outstanding balances while explaining billing and payment options.
• Communicate effectively with clinical staff to coordinate patient flow and resolve questions or concerns.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Work Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm

Primary Responsibilities:

• Answer inbound calls from patients and providers regarding appointments (approximately 60-80 calls a day) and general inquiries
• Greeting and assist patients in person and by phone, ensuring a positive and compassionate patient experience
• Schedule appointments, verify insurance eligibility, and obtain required authorizations
• Register patients accurately by collecting and updating demographic, insurance, and medical information
• Collect co-pays and outstanding balances while explaining billing and payment options
• Communicate effectively with clinical staff to coordinate patient flow and resolve questions or concerns
• Other duties, as assigned

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 to $29.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
