Job summary

Simpson Strong-Tie is seeking an Associate Painter to load and unload paint line products and support powder coat operators in McKinney, TX. The role includes quality inspection, material handling, and titration checks for chemicals.

Second shift is Mon-Thu 4:25 PM–2:55 AM with a $2.50 shift differential. $19.00 per hour. Requires High School diploma or GED and relevant manufacturing experience; training may be provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; 1 year related manufacturing experience or training.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and follow procedures.
• Adequate math and measurement skills (1/32 inch, angles).

Responsibilities

• Ensure paint coating quality by visual and test methods; inspect parts for porosity and weld defects.
• Follow painting sequence to produce correctly ordered parts for next process; maintain safety and record paperwork.
• Monitor wash system titration levels and assist cross-training on equipment to meet demand.

YOU The Associate Painter is responsible for the loading and unloading of paint line products and materials and supporting the powder coat operators. This position is also responsible for quality inspections of products, checking millage thickness on product and titrations of chemicals.

2nd Shift Hours are Mon - Thu 4:25PM – 2:55AM. You will receive a $2.50 shift differential for every hour worked.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)

• Ensure the quality of paint coating through visual and test methods and the overall quality of parts painted through visual inspection. Check welded parts for porosity and missing or defective welds while painting. Follow sequence of schedule to ensure product is painted in correct order distributed to the next process. Follow Safety guidelines and complete paperwork according to procedures defined. (75%)
• Monitor and maintain wash system titration levels. (15%)
• Train on other equipment and or processes within the production area to meet customer demands. Check chemical and adhesion tests as required. (10%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Simpson Strong-Tie Powered Industrial Truck certification (will certify at hire) required.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred 1 year related manufacturing experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and training within the powder coating industry.
• Mathematical Reasoning: Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimal equivalents.
• Language: Ability to read and write simple instructions and correspondence.
• Ability to read, comprehend and interpret drawings.
• Speaking: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Reasoning: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written and oral form and to solve problems involve both concrete and unknown variables.
• Measurements: Able to read a tape measure to 1/32” tolerance and to use combination squares to measure angles to +/- 1 degree Problem Solving: Ability to identify options for solving a problem encountered during the manufacturing process.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

This full-time, non-exempt position is located in McKinney, TX.

RELOCATION

Relocation will not be considered for this position.

PAY

$19.00 / hour
