Job summary

Simpson Strong-Tie is seeking a Fabricator for the 2nd shift at our Columbus, OH facility. You will operate press brake and manual fabrication equipment, perform quality inspections, and package finished products while maintaining a clean work environment.

2:30pm–1:00am Monday-Thursday with overtime as needed and a $2.00 shift differential. Candidates should have a High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of related experience in production, processing, or manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3 years related experience and/or training in Production and Processing.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Ability to read production drawings and pass the exam.

Responsibilities

  • Operate press brake and other manual fabrication equipment to manufacture parts according to prints and work orders.
  • Perform quality inspections to drawings and specifications per procedures using calipers, micrometers and tape measure; communicate issues to leadership.
  • Package finished products, label, palletize, gather and stage work; maintain a clean work environment.

YOU

As a Fabricator, you will be responsible for bending, seating, flanging and top flanging material according to work order and production drawing specifications in such a manner as to achieve safety, quality, efficiency and lean production goals. Willingness to learn and operate other manual fabrication operations such as shear, weld, punch press, paint, and CNC required. This is a full-time, 2nd shift position. The schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday, 2:30pm – 1:00am, with overtime as needed. This shift is eligible for a $2.00 shift differential.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)
  • Operate press brake and other manual fabrication equipment to manufacture parts according to prints and work orders. (75%)
  • Perform quality inspections to drawings and specifications per procedures using various equipment such as calipers, micrometers and tape measure. Communicate with department leadership regarding issues and improvements. (15%)
  • Package finished products in cartons, applying labels, and palletizing finished products. Gather and stage work. Maintain a clean work environment. (10%)
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Operation Monitoring: Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly. Selective Attention: The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted. Mathematics: Knowledge of arithmetic, addition and subtraction. Active Listening: Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. The ability to read and understand production drawings and pass the exam.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

This full-time, non-exempt position is located in Columbus, OH.

RELOCATION Relocation is not available for this position.

PAY $21.30 - $31.97 / hour + $2.00 shift differential.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. This role operates large equipment while standing for approximately 8-12 hours, regularly twisting and bending in a repetitive motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT The job may risk exposure to heat and/or cold, loud noise levels, vibration, and moving mechanical parts.
