Job description

Farella Braun + Martel LLP, is a leading Northern California law firm deeply rooted in San Francisco, seeks a skilled and highly qualified antitrust litigation associate or special counsel with at least two years of litigation experience to join our nationally recognized antitrust litigation practice. The candidate should have a strong academic record from a highly ranked law school and previous experience as a federal judicial clerk or experience with a government enforcer.

Our antitrust practice is unique. We represent both plaintiffs and defendants in high-profile conduct cases across a variety of industries in courts across the nation. We also represent state attorneys general nationwide in both merger and conduct matters, and we handle both civil and criminal matters. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic and growing antitrust practice, with an opportunity to shape and lead that practice. Our team is outstanding, led by respected lawyers in the field. In addition, the candidate also may work on the firm’s other varied and high-stakes business litigation and government enforcement matters.

Our associates gain early, hands‑on responsibility in case strategy, depositions, motion practice, client counseling, and trial work. For example, our associates have recently examined CEOs on the witness stand, cross‑examined experts, and argued pre‑trial motions in high‑stakes federal and state trials, contributing directly to significant client victories.

What Sets Us Apart
  • Lean Teams: Our lean staffing model ensures significant responsibility and meaningful client interaction.
  • Early Courtroom Exposure: Associates play active roles in trial strategy and execution.

  • Respected Reputation: Our litigators are leaders in the legal community and recognized among the top trial lawyers in California.
  • Support for Pro Bono and Rule of Law: Farella lawyers have been active in prominent matters protecting the rule of law, representing clients such as high‑ranking former national security officials and researchers at the University of California.

We pride ourselves on our commitment to excellence, our unique and diverse docket, and our collegiality. At Farella, you will find opportunities for substantive responsibility early in your career, strong mentorship, and a culture that values craftsmanship, collaboration, and long‑term relationships.

The annual base compensation range for this California position is between $222,500 and $352,500. Placement within the salary range depends upon a number of factors, including but not limited to years of relevant experience and professional skills required for this role.
