Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania are seeking candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Applicants must have an M.D., M.D./Ph.D., or an equivalent degree.
Teaching responsibilities include high-quality teaching of CHOP fellows, residents, and medical students from the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania.
Clinical responsibilities involve coverage of two inpatient consultation services: one for children with general infectious diseases and another for immunocompromised hosts. As CHOP expands (e.g., King of Prussia Hospital) and partners with outside organizations, some local travel may be required. The division also manages a busy outpatient practice, including a General Infectious Diseases Clinic and dedicated partner clinics for patients with conditions like malignancies, transplants, and cystic fibrosis.
Administrative responsibilities include providing medical leadership as Associate Medical Director for the Department of Infection Prevention and Control. The department supports multiple hospital sites, ambulatory surgery centers, and a broad primary and specialty care network. The Associate Medical Director collaborates with the System Director of Infection Prevention and Control to advance institutional goals such as eliminating healthcare-associated infections and promoting pediatric infection prevention. The role involves leading institutional projects, supporting initiatives focused on prevention, safety, quality, operational excellence, financial stewardship, patient-family experience, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The position reports matrixedly to the Assistant Vice President of the Office of Preparedness, Prevention, and Response (OPPR) and acts as a physician ambassador internally and externally.
