Job summary

WSP is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our Property & Buildings Building Systems Team in Tampa, FL.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to grow technical expertise while supporting the design and delivery of mechanical building systems across a variety of project types including commercial, healthcare, higher education, science & technology, federal, civic, mixed-use, and industrial facilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or closely related field.
  • 1-3 years of mechanical engineering or building systems design experience.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within six months.
  • Familiarity with HVAC, plumbing, and building systems design principles.
  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with design and analysis of mechanical building systems.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications and construction documents.
  • Use software to perform load calculations, energy analyses and system layouts.
  • Develop design drawings using Revit, AutoCAD and other tools.
  • Participate in field investigations, site visits and existing conditions assessments.
  • Assist with construction administration including submittals and RFIs.
  • Coordinate with architects, structural and electrical engineers and contractors.
  • Support project managers and senior engineers to meet schedules and budgets.
  • Research building codes and emerging technologies.
