Job Description

BHE GT&S has an exciting career opportunity for an Associate LNG Technician (Mechanical), LNG Technician (Mechanical), or Sr LNG Technician (Mechanical) at our Cove Point facility in Lusby, MD.

Responsibilities

The Associate LNG Technician (Mechanical), LNG Technician (Mechanical), or Sr LNG Technician (Mechanical) reports directly to the Mechanical Supervisor and is part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for operating a liquefied natural gas (LNG) import/export and re-gasification terminal. This includes managing LNG process systems, infrastructure controls, emergency response, and rotating equipment operation. A strong focus on safety, policy compliance, and environmental standards is essential for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the terminal. The successful candidate must be willing to work in an industrial environment, primarily performing fieldwork such as inspection, testing, servicing, and repair. The Sr. LNG Technician (Mechanical) handles complex systems, troubleshooting and repairing equipment such as fans, pumps, compressors, gas turbines, motors, vessels, utilities, piping, valves, and tanks, similar to those found in power stations, chemical plants, manufacturing facilities, petrochemical, NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing, or hydrocarbon facilities.

Specific job responsibilities include:

• Performing corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance using appropriate tools and test equipment.
• Carrying out engineering functions related to equipment modifications.
• Maintaining drawings and configuration documentation related to Mechanical systems.
• Upgrading and modifying equipment/systems as needed.
• Training and guiding less experienced technicians and addressing system concerns of operators.
• Handling line operations for loading/unloading LNG ships.
• Training on environmental safety, operational, and security procedures.
• Operating the facility with awareness of safety and environmental impacts.
• Ensuring high levels of environmental and safety compliance.
• Performing duties in a rotational shift environment, including holidays and nights, as needed.
• Adhering to safety protocols and regulatory mandates in all duties.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience in an industrial setting in a mechanical role with hands-on craft experience.
• Three (3) years of experience in a mechanical role within an industrial setting.
• Five (5) years of experience in a mechanical or controls-related field, including military experience.
• Preferred: Experience in power generation, LNG processing, or petrochemical industries; completion of a formal craft training program is a plus.

For All Levels

• Knowledge of pumps, compressors, gas turbines, motors, vessels, utilities, piping, tanks, unloading arms, and related components.
• Proficiency in performing preventive maintenance activities.
• Technical knowledge of mechanical equipment and repair experience.
• Understanding of environmental regulations.
• Ability to guide and train less experienced technicians and operators.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong analytical, reasoning, communication, technical writing, mechanical, and mathematical skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment or process issues.
• Capability to conduct site inspections and walkdowns, including working at heights.
• Ability to maintain drawings and configuration documentation related to Mechanical systems.

Education

Associate degree (or equivalent experience, typically two years of related work).

Preferred Degree

Mechanical, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Mechanical Technology.

Licenses, Certifications, and Standards

Must have a valid TWIC card or proof of application prior to employment.
