Job summary

Jobot, a mid-size defense firm in Walnut Creek, CA, is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to manage civil litigation matters from intake through resolution. The role requires performing legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery, and communicating with clients and experts.

You will appear in court for hearings and trials, take and defend depositions, participate in mediations, and contribute to risk-management strategies for clients.

Qualifications

• Active CA bar license in good standing.
• Experience with civil litigation and trial practice.
• Ability to independently manage a caseload.
• Experience in federal and California state courts is a plus.

Job Details

The Associate will manage civil litigation matters from initial intake through resolution, including legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Appearing in court for hearings and trials
• Taking and defending depositions
• Participating in mediations and settlement conferences
• Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and experts
• Advising clients on risk management and business counseling issues, analyzing contracts and policies, and helping develop strategies to prevent or mitigate disputes

Qualifications

• Active CA bar license in good standing
• Strong litigation skills, including legal research, motion practice, discovery management, and case strategy development
• Experience or interest in civil practice areas such as real estate, construction, premises liability, personal injury, employment, and business disputes
• Ability to independently manage a caseload
• Prior civil litigation or clerkship experience highly preferred; experience in federal and California state courts is a plus!
