The Legal & Research Technology team in Bangalore provides systems development and support for the content processing needs of WestLaw. The group oversees a wide range of projects, from cost-saving infrastructure to revenue-driving product initiatives. They develop systems that help in creating content by legal experts and editors, which is used by legal professionals and law firms to improve user experience.

We are seeking a highly motivated, innovative, and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Technical Lead on this enterprise-wide initiative. The key focus is serving as a Technical Lead for a multi-year project, delivering systems with proficiency in Java, Groovy, Grails, jQuery, JavaScript, and full-stack development. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Experience in meeting tight deadlines in uncertain environments and maintaining strong customer relationships is essential.

About the Role

As an Associate Lead Software Engineer, you will:

1. Develop efficient, high-quality code, meeting product release deadlines.
2. Contribute to design discussions with architects and business teams, providing insights and solutions.
3. Translate architectural vision into functional systems.
4. Ensure adherence to coding, design, and architectural standards.
5. Develop deployment and rollout plans.
6. Estimate project timelines and design plans.
7. Lead technical design discussions and participate in code reviews.
8. Design test cases, support systems, and perform unit testing.
9. Mentor team members technically and provide guidance.
10. Work with project managers on sprint planning, feedback, and obstacle resolution.
11. Be proactive, self-motivated, and able to prioritize multiple tasks.
12. Respond swiftly to production support issues, troubleshoot, and resolve problems.
13. Report issues timely to management.
14. Learn new technologies quickly and lead team technical development.
15. Design and develop enterprise applications, including analysis, implementation, and troubleshooting.

About you:

• 8+ years in software development with Java, J2EE technologies.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; advanced training is a plus.
• Experience in full-stack development with Spring, JavaScript, JQuery, Groovy & Grails, Oracle.
• 5+ years working with large relational databases like Oracle/SQL and ORMs.
• 3+ years in software development using AWS capabilities.
• 5+ years in object-oriented analysis and design, using design patterns.
• Experience with XML technologies, TDD, iterative development, and agile methodologies.
• Proficiency in core Java (Java 8), J2EE, application servers, and database scripting.
• Knowledge of UI technologies such as AngularJS or ReactJS is a plus.
• Experience with XML, XSLT, XSD, unit testing, build tools, and source control.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
• Experience with TDD, pair programming, and agile practices.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
