Who You Are

You're a Senior Software Engineer specializing in backend development, passionate about designing and implementing scalable, reliable systems that drive seamless user experiences. You take ownership of projects, leading development efforts from conception to production, and are comfortable making key architectural decisions. You thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with front-end developers, product teams, and designers to create a well-structured backend architecture supported by robust APIs. You mentor junior developers, advocate for technical excellence, and contribute to BlueTread's culture of continuous learning and improvement.

This position is fully remote and requires you to reside in the U.S.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership: Drive the strategic direction of backend development, ensuring scalable and maintainable solutions. Architect, develop, and optimize backend systems using .NET, C#, Entity Framework, and related technologies. Design robust APIs and data models, ensuring seamless integration and efficient performance. Identify and mitigate technical risks, proactively addressing performance bottlenecks and security concerns. Oversee CI/CD pipelines, automation strategies, and deployment processes to enhance team efficiency.

AI Integration: Evaluate and implement AI tools and technologies to enhance development workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and improve code quality. Stay current with emerging AI capabilities and identify opportunities to leverage them for technical innovation and efficiency gains.

Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: Lead by example, mentoring junior and mid-level engineers to elevate team capabilities. Conduct in-depth code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Facilitate technical workshops, knowledge-sharing sessions, and team-wide best practice discussions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with front-end teams, product managers, and designers to align development with business objectives. Advocate for high-quality software development practices and maintain a customer-centric approach to technical solutions. Proactively engage in roadmap discussions, contributing insights to drive innovation and product enhancements.

Strategic Problem-Solving: Tackle complex engineering challenges with a pragmatic approach to balancing scalability, performance, and maintainability. Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies that align with BlueTread's long-term development strategy. Make data-driven decisions by leveraging analytics and user feedback to optimize backend performance.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in backend development, with a strong track record of leading successful projects.
• Advanced proficiency in .NET, C#, Entity Framework, LINQ to SQL, and cloud platforms like Azure.
• Expertise in version control systems such as Git and branching models.
• Strong architectural understanding of backend systems, including API development and integration.
• Experience with Dependency Injection (DI), Inversion of Control (IoC), Configuration Management, Caching, and Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
• Familiarity with AI tools and technologies relevant to software development, including code generation, optimization, and testing.
• Understanding of how to effectively integrate AI capabilities into development workflows.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
• Ability to assess and balance technical debt while making sound scaling and maintenance trade-offs.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and driving a culture of technical excellence.
• Proficiency in debugging and testing, including automated unit and integration tests.
• Must be located in the United States and authorized to work without sponsorship.
