Position Overview & Key Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to build reliable scalable technology that helps the company Global Markets meet complex business challenges while working closely with colleagues throughout the business.

Key responsibilities include
  • Partnering with stakeholders to understand requirements;
  • Designing, developing, testing, and supporting reliable, highly performant distributed Java-based applications, including real-time streaming with high volume and concurrent workloads.
  • Presenting designs to technical reviewers, contributing to reviewing designs/code
  • Improving reliability, observability, and performance;
  • Supporting production releases to help team meet SLAs.

The role is within BGM’s In-Business technology group in London. We are a community of computer scientists, user experience designers, and data analytics engineers, operating out of San Francisco, London, Hungary and India. The team is highly sought after to tackle analytically intensive challenges and present them in intuitive and visually compelling ways. Given the complex nature of our business, we value open communication and eagerness to learn.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Typically 3+ years’ development experience ideally in financial services industry with java as primary programming language
  • Collaborative, adaptable and open to different perspectives and ways of working
  • Strong analytical capability and attention to detail
  • Clear communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • High integrity and alignment with the company’s fiduciary culture
Desirable skills
  • Knowledge of leveraging AI for code generation and building agents
  • Knowledge of Spring, Spring Boot, REST APIs and microservices
  • Experience with a relational database like MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Sybase ASE
  • Experience with Streaming technologies like Kafka, Apache Flink
  • Experience with cloud technologies, such as Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with Agile process
  • Experience with DevOps and tools like Azure DevOps
