Job summary

The City and County of Denver is seeking an Associate IT Systems Administrator to join our Court IT team. You will provide help desk support to staff including Judges and Magistrates, and work on projects to improve Court IT infrastructure.

Join a small, collaborative team to configure and manage enterprise technologies, maintain patching, and support presentations and meetings. On-call duties and continuous learning are expected in this dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 3 years of IT experience installing, maintaining, and/or modifying software and OS.
  • Equivalency or combined education/experience may be substituted.

Responsibilities

Who We Are - The DCC

The mission of Denver County Court is to administer justice fairly, efficiently and effectively; provide excellent customer service, and foster a positive environment where employees enjoy their work. The City and County of Denver’s third branch of government is comprised of 19 judges, 4 full-time magistrates, and 300 staff members. Case types include state, civil, small claims, traffic, criminal, and other general sessions cases within the City and County of Denver. The Division

The Court IT Department team will consist of 4 System Administrators, 5 Developers, 2 data analysts, IT Supervisor, and an IT Director. The team utilizes an agile development methodology. As a small team, we strive to create a culture that fosters open communication, goal orientation and results. The team supports each other while providing a fun environment.

What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. New hires are typically brought in between $74,276.00 - $98,415.00, based on their education and experience. This position qualifies for our generous benefits which include but are not limited to:

Salary Range $74,276.00 - $122,555.00

Location

In this position you can expect to work in downtown Denver in the Denver Post Building located at 101 W. Colfax Ave. Denver, CO 80202. We also do onsite support in 4 other locations nearby; City & County Building (1437 Bannock St, Denver, CO 80202), Denver Detention Center (490 W. Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80204), Lindsey-Flanigan Courthouse (520 W Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80204), and the Minoru Yasui Building (303 W Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80204). We offer the opportunity to work from home 1 day a week after successfully passing a 6-month probation period.

What You’ll Do

The Denver County Court (DCC) is seeking an Associate IT Systems Administrator to join our specialized team. As an Associate IT Systems Administrator, you can expect to:

  • Be a part of a dynamic, collaborative, and specialized team
  • Provide help desk support to Denver County Court staff including Judges and Magistrates, troubleshooting issues remotely and in-person
  • Take on various technology projects to advance Court IT infrastructure
  • Configure and manage enterprise technologies including network, infrastructure, web hosting, cryptography, operation systems and applications
  • Maintain hardware and software patch management and inventory
  • Set up technology requirements for presentations and meetings
  • Maintain professional audio/video equipment
  • Collaborate with other teams throughout the Court
  • Manage user accounts
  • Monitor logs and performance on servers and networks
  • Be on call 24/7 in a rotation schedule shared with other members of the team
  • Training provided for you to stay up to date in the ever-changing technology era
  • Ability to be cross functional and learn about multiple areas within IT
  • Ability to be creative and find solutions

What You’ll Bring

The ideal candidate must be able to communicate effectively and be open to new technology and innovative ideas. Additionally, the candidate will have the following:

  • Strong PowerShell command-line interfaces and Cisco experience
  • Background in Systems Administration using Windows desktop and server operating systems
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and Office 365
  • Desire to always learn and improve
  • Bring fresh ideas and technology to improve Court technology
  • Cybersecurity, intrusion detection, and firewall knowledge a plus
Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Mathematics or a directly related field.
  • Experience: Three (3) years of professional Information Technology experience installing, maintaining, and/or modifying application software, operating system and/or network operating system software and associated hardware.
  • Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
  • A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.
