Job summary

Grocery-Outlet in Emeryville, CA is seeking an Assistant Planner to manage merchandise distribution to support company plans. You will be hands-on, make quick decisions, manage key warehouse and planning relationships, and provide inventory information for your departments.

You will assist the Planning Team to ensure proper inventories at all stores to optimize code life, minimize markdowns and maximize turns. The Assistant Planner reports to the Sr.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Can successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Can make solid decisions quickly based on limited information.
• Intermediate experience with Excel preferred.
• Ability to work independently, as well as with a team.
• Concern for achieving positive outcomes and growing the business; willing to get involved in all aspects of the process.
• Ability to be creative, resourceful and take ownership over your categories.

Responsibilities

• Distribute merchandise to stores to maximize turns and profitability.
• Execute Treasure Hunt merchandise allocation to stores.
• Analyze store-level data to identify trends and implement changes.
• Forecast regional needs using climate and regional knowledge.
• Execute seasonal distributions per planning and purchasing guidance.
• Manage items approaching expiration in the warehouse.
• Handle aging inventory and collaborate on actions.
• Build inventory mix with set crew for new stores.
• Manage store distribution groups by location, volume, size, demographics.
• Communicate product sales, inventory, and distributions across stores.
• Develop relationships with District Sales Managers, Planning, Purchasing, Stores, DC.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings on distribution strategies.
• Review MTO items stock position with planners weekly.
• Demonstrate analytical and prioritization skills.
• Present analytics and reports to management.
• Assist buyers with inventory or code date issues.
• Execute entrance and exit strategies for new, seasonal, replacement programs.
• Visit stores and warehouses as necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
