Job Summary

Purpose/Scope of Responsibilities:

1. Educates students in: professional nursing courses by providing instructional experiences that support mission and goals of University and/or program

2. Assesseseducationaloutcomesandusesdatatorevisecurriculumandinstructionalmethodologywithgoalof ensuringcompetententry-levelpractitionersandgoodcitizens.

3. UndertheadministrativedirectionoftheAcademicDeanand/orgeneraldirectionoftheProgramChair.

Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities

1. Facilitatesthecreation ofalearning environment forstudent instruction that encouragescriticalthinking, investigation,self-directionand respect for theuniqueness andstrengthsof eachindividual.

2. Advisesandtutorsstudentsand evaluatesacademicprogressionofstudentsinmeetingrequirementsfortheprogramofstudyandinaccomplishingprogramoutcomes.

3. Demonstrates a professional role within the discipline by remaining current with trends, issues and practices.
4. Demonstratesteamwork and collaborationinthedepartment and theUniversitythroughcommittee participation.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in the teaching or professional discipline or in a related discipline with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline plus work or teaching experience equivalent to three (3) years of college teaching in the discipline; or
• Master’s Degree in a related or academically appropriate discipline and the terminal degree/certificate in the professional discipline plus work or teaching experience equivalent to three (3) years of college teaching in the discipline; or
• Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in the teaching or professional discipline and evidence of potential ability in instruction;
• Good character, mature attitude and stable personality;
• Promise of excellence in teaching and in scholarly or creative works;
• Participation in professional organizations;
• Growth towards academic maturity.
• Current license/certification to practice in the State of Tennessee as appropriate to professional practice areas.

Desired Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in the teaching or professional discipline or in a related discipline plus thirty (30) semester hours beyond the Master’s in the teaching discipline or an academically appropriate discipline with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline, plus work or teaching experience equivalent to four (4) years of college teaching in the discipline; or
• Master’s Degree in a related or academically appropriate discipline and the terminal degree/certificate in the professional discipline plus work or teaching experience equivalent to four (4) years of college teaching in the discipline; or
• Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in the teaching or professional discipline or in a related or academically appropriate area with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline plus work or teaching experience equivalent to four (4) years of college teaching in the discipline;
• Minimum of three (3) years at the academic rank of Instructor or equivalent. Good character, mature attitude and stable personality;
