Job description

Our immigration law firm is seeking a knowledgeable and driven associate attorney with experience in removal defense.

This is not an entry-level role. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience representing clients before the Immigration Court, preparing filings with EOIR and USCIS, and drafting motions, briefs, and legal memoranda. Candidates must possess strong legal research and writing skills, be comfortable managing a caseload with minimal supervision, and demonstrate sound judgment in complex immigration matters.

This is an in-person position offering substantial courtroom exposure and direct client interaction. We’re a purpose-driven immigration firm that values clarity, autonomy, and respect. We offer a manageable caseload, supported by a solid team and collaborative leadership, with no billable hours, clerical overload, or unrelated responsibilities. We respect your time, maintain regular hours, and close the office when possible.

Responsibilities:

1. Represent clients in removal proceedings before EOIR, including bond hearings, master and individual hearings, and drafting motions, briefs, and supporting filings.
2. Conduct thorough case analysis, advise clients on strategy and available relief, and negotiate with DHS trial attorneys when appropriate.
3. Prepare and review complex legal filings, including asylum applications (I-589), cancellation of removal (EOIR-42B), motions to reopen, waivers, and supporting evidence packets.
4. Maintain accurate and timely case files in coordination with support staff, ensuring all filings and documentation are complete and submitted in accordance with deadlines.
5. Collaborate closely with the managing attorney to move cases forward with professionalism and urgency.

Qualifications:

• Effective communication and problem-solving skills necessary to work with all levels of staff and clients.
• Prepared to learn from senior attorneys to meet client needs and grow the client base.
• Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree required from an accredited law school.
• Fluency in Spanish or professional proficiency in Spanish.

Compensation:

$95,000 - $115,000 yearly
