The Associate Human Resources Business Partner will support people strategies and day-to-day HR operations in Minneapolis, Minnesota, working alongside experienced HR leaders and business partners. The role contributes to employee and labor relations, talent processes, workforce reporting, leader support, and organizational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist HR Business Partners and leaders with aligning people practices to business priorities, workforce needs, and organizational objectives through day-to-day administrative support, follow-up tracking, meeting preparation, and employee documentation.
- Answer routine HR policy questions from leaders and employees, providing timely guidance on HR programs, processes, and standard policy matters.
- Build effective working relationships with leaders and employees while supporting employee engagement, culture, and organizational health initiatives through action planning, follow-through, and visibility into operational activities.
- Support routine performance management, attendance, accommodation, and leave of absence matters, escalating complex corrective action, discipline, and termination items as appropriate.
- Help with intake and tracking of employee concerns, ensuring matters are documented and routed to the appropriate parties.
- Coordinate unemployment claims, requests for information, employment verifications, and other standard HR processing activities.
- Support labor relations, including grievance tracking, case documentation, meeting preparation, and collective bargaining agreement administration.
- Maintain accurate case records, reports, unemployment claim documentation, and HR files while protecting confidentiality and ensuring timely follow-up.
- Contribute to talent review and succession planning by preparing supporting materials and tracking completed actions.
- Support career development, internal mobility, and growth resource access for leaders and employees.
- Compile and analyze workforce and people data to identify trends, develop reports, and support business decision-making.
- Assist with organizational change and workforce planning by coordinating projects, supporting communications and documentation, and performing data analysis.
- Support HR compliance activities, including audits, reporting, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 1 to 3 years of Human Resources, Employee Relations, HR operations, or related experience; relevant internship or rotational experience may be considered.
- Strong organization and administrative skills.
- Experience supporting leaders or employees in a fast-paced, operational environment is preferred.
- Exposure to unionized environments and collective bargaining agreements is preferred.
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR practices.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and demonstrate sound judgment on when to elevate.
- Strong communication, organization, analytical, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- HR certification or progress toward a professional certification is preferred.
Work Location and Schedule
- Location: Minneapolis, MN (onsite)
- Travel: Ability to travel up to 5-10%

Compensation and FLSA Status
- Salary range: USD 67,500 - 80,400 per year
- Minimum position pay range: USD 67,500.00/Yr.
