Job summary

Empath Health is seeking a seasoned Associate General Counsel to serve as a trusted legal advisor and strategic business partner within our healthcare organization. You will partner with executives and operational leaders to provide strategic counsel on legal, regulatory, employment, litigation, insurance, risk management, and operational matters.

Experience in hospice, PACE, home health, or post-acute care is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school with active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Active Florida Bar membership strongly preferred; eligible to obtain Florida Authorized House Counsel status.
• Significant in-house healthcare attorney experience advising hospice, PACE, home health, or post-acute care settings.
• Demonstrated expertise in employment law, litigation management, insurance matters, and risk management.
• Proven ability to balance legal risk with business objectives and deliver practical, solution-oriented recommendations.
• Executive presence, strong judgment, and exceptional communication skills to influence senior leaders.

Job description

Empath Health is seeking a seasoned Associate General Counsel to serve as a trusted legal advisor and strategic business partner within our mission-driven healthcare organization. This role is ideal for a seasoned in-house attorney who brings deep legal expertise, executive presence, and a practical, solutions-oriented approach to complex business challenges. The Associate General Counsel will partner closely with executives and operational leaders across the organization, providing strategic counsel on legal, regulatory, employment, litigation, insurance, risk management, and operational matters. The successful candidate will be a trusted advisor who can confidently lead discussions, influence decision-making, and deliver sound, business-focused guidance that advances organizational goals while managing risk.

Experience supporting healthcare organizations with hospice, PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly), home health, or other post-acute care services is strongly preferred. This is a remote position with occasional travel required approximately 4-6 times per year. Active Florida Bar membership is strongly preferred. Candidates licensed in another U.S. jurisdiction must be eligible to obtain Florida Authorized House Counsel status.

What You’ll Need
