Job summary

GS2 | B Corp™ is seeking an Associate General Counsel to execute the legal strategy for solar energy project transactions and development. You will advise cross functional deal teams across the project lifecycle, reporting to the General Counsel and ensuring alignment with commercial goals.

You will drive high-impact solar and energy storage deals from inception to closing, providing strategic business partnership across deal teams and leadership with strong commercial judgment and meticulous

Qualifications

• Requires 4+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably in solar or renewable energy.
• Experience negotiating and closing complex project transactions and deals.
• Able to serve as a trusted advisor to cross-functional deal teams.

Responsibilities

• Execute transactions: negotiate, document, and close solar project acquisitions and sales.
• Development & site control: draft land purchase agreements, leases, easements, and offtake contracts; oversee title and survey reviews.
• EPC & operational advisory: lead negotiations for EPC contracts and advise on land use, environment, and regulatory compliance.
• Governance & operations: manage project subsidiary structures, support Board reporting, and refine standard legal templates.

A premier renewable energy company is seeking a high caliber Associate General Counsel to execute legal strategy across solar energy project transactions and development. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, you will serve as a key legal and commercial advisor to cross functional deal teams across all project lifecycle stages.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute Transactions: Negotiate, document, and close portfolio acquisitions, sales, and complex solar project deals.
• Development & Site Control: Draft and negotiate land purchase agreements, leases, easements, and offtake contracts; oversee title and survey reviews.
• EPC & Operational Advisory: Lead negotiations for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts and advise on land use, environmental regulations, and regulatory compliance.
• Governance & Operations: Manage project subsidiary structures with paralegal support, assist with Board reporting, and refine standard legal templates.
• Experience: Minimum 4 years of relevant legal experience, with strong preference for solar and renewable energy transactions (law firm or in-house).
• Key Traits: Exceptional commercial judgment, strong communication, meticulous attention to detail, and multi project deal management.
• Location & Availability: Mostly remote with 3 weeks WFH and 1 week in DC/Baltimore area office per month.
