Job summary

GS2 | B Corp™ is seeking an Associate General Counsel to lead legal strategy for solar energy project transactions and development. You will advise cross-functional deal teams across the project lifecycle, reporting to the General Counsel.

Hybrid role with 2 days in the DC/Baltimore area office and 3 days remote. The ideal candidate has at least 4 years of relevant solar/renewable energy experience in law firm or in-house settings.

Qualifications

• JD or equivalent; bar admission in good standing.
• 4+ years in solar/renewable energy transactions.
• Strong negotiation and advisory skills.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and close portfolio acquisitions and solar project deals.
• Draft land purchase agreements, leases, and offtake contracts.
• Advise on EPC contracts, land use, and regulatory compliance.
• Support governance, Board reporting, and template improvements.

Job description

A premier renewable energy company is seeking a high caliber Associate General Counsel to execute legal strategy across solar energy project transactions and development. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, you will serve as a key legal and commercial advisor to cross functional deal teams across all project lifecycle stages.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute Transactions: Negotiate, document, and close portfolio acquisitions, sales, and complex solar project deals.
• Development & Site Control: Draft and negotiate land purchase agreements, leases, easements, and offtake contracts; oversee title and survey reviews.
• EPC & Operational Advisory: Lead negotiations for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts and advise on land use, environmental regulations, and regulatory compliance.
• Governance & Operations: Manage project subsidiary structures with paralegal support, assist with Board reporting, and refine standard legal templates.
• Experience: Minimum 4 years of relevant legal experience, with strong preference for solar and renewable energy transactions (law firm or in-house).
• Key Traits: Exceptional commercial judgment, strong communication, meticulous attention to detail, and multi project deal management.
• Location & Availability: Hybrid | 2 days in the DC/Baltimore area office and 3 days WFH per week.
