• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active Texas Bar admission.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution.
• 3–5 years of legal experience in a law firm or in-house environment.
• Experience in maritime, construction, energy, infrastructure, or asset-intensive industries.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and risk assessment skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

JAB Recruitment is seeking an experienced Associate General Counsel to join the legal team of a leading U.S.-based provider of marine infrastructure services with significant domestic and international operations.

Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this role will provide proactive legal guidance across commercial contracting, project development, regulatory compliance, and risk management. The ideal candidate is a business-minded attorney who can operate independently, manage competing priorities, and partner effectively with cross-functional teams.

What You’ll Do

• Provide legal support across a broad range of commercial and operational matters, with a primary focus on contracting and project support.
• Review and advise on domestic and international project contracts during the tender and prequalification process.
• Partner with business leaders, attorneys, and contract professionals to identify and mitigate legal and commercial risks.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex project agreements, commercial contracts, leases, and agreements for services, equipment, and supplies.
• Advise on federal, state, and local government contracts, including applicable Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) requirements.
• Support regulatory compliance initiatives and provide practical legal guidance to business stakeholders.
• Assist with tender documentation, prequalification materials, and other project-related legal requirements.
• Support complex project and financing documentation.
• Identify and assess potential legal claims and commercial risks while working with stakeholders to minimize litigation exposure.
• Manage commercial disputes involving subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
• Provide general contract administration and ongoing legal support to business operations.
• Travel may be required periodically.

What We’re Looking For

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

• Experience in maritime, construction, energy, infrastructure, or another asset-intensive industry is highly valued.
• Strong contract drafting, negotiation, analytical, and risk assessment skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while managing multiple priorities.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong business judgment and the ability to provide practical, solutions-oriented legal advice.
• High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical judgment.
• Self-starter with the ability to take ownership of projects and lead when needed.

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with Jones Act and/or general maritime law.
• Experience with maritime commercial contracts.
• Experience supporting complex projects, government contracting, or highly regulated operations.
