Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking staff for the Nutrition Services department at West Hospital. This full-time position involves rotating shifts to prepare, plate, serve, and transport meals and related supplies to patients and staff.

You will ensure timely, courteous service while maintaining strict cleaning and infection control practices. Responsibilities include operating food service equipment and computer systems, with an emphasis on food safety and adherence to health regulations.

Qualifications

  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Must wear protective equipment as required by rules and regulations.
  • Adhere to local health regulations and safety requirements for safe food.
  • Ability to climb ladders as part of duties.
  • Physical ability to lift 35–80 lbs and stand for long periods.

Primary Responsibilities

Prepares, plates, serves, and transports food and supplies to provide a high level of satisfaction for patients, family members, physicians, team members, and the public. Responsible for timely, accurate, and courteous service. Responsible for associated sanitation, cleaning, and infection control practices to ensure food safety. Operates a variety of food service and computer equipment.


Candidate Qualifications


  • Requires the ability to operate kitchen equipment.

  • Must be able to wear protective equipment/clothing required by the environment or government regulations such as gowns, gloves, goggles, rubber-soled closed-toe footwear, etc.

  • Requires adherence to local health regulations and safety requirements to produce safe food for consumption.

  • Requires the ability to climb ladders.

  • Physical requirements to include: reaching, standing for long periods of time, squatting, bending, carrying and/or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 35 lbs. or more, up to 80% of the time.

  • No experience is required.


Preferred Qualifications


  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience is preferred.

  • Prior food service experience is preferred.
