Jensen Hughes invites entry-level Associate Fire Protection Engineers to join our expanding team in the Mid-Atlantic region (Rockville, Columbia, Fairfax, Blacksburg and other offices). We support recent Winter 2026 and Spring 2027 graduates to become licensed professionals while contributing to diverse projects.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills to write reports, presentations and procedures.
• Passion for advancing the science of safety and exceeding client expectations.
• Entry-level Associate Fire Protection Engineer position across multiple Mid Atlantic offices.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional-level fire protection engineering services under supervision.
• Develop plans, specifications and inspection reports.
• Assist in field investigations, design and coordination of project components.
• Identify applicable codes and standards for evaluation.
• Conduct basic analyses (code, egress, fire detection, smoke control and hydraulics).
• Apply engineering calculations (size, egress, sprinkler provisions).
• Submit progress reports to Project Managers/Leaders.
• Potential CAD document preparation/production.
• Read and interpret technical publications and regulations.
