Edelman Financial Engines is seeking an Associate Financial Planner in Silver Spring, MD to assist Financial Planners in ensuring client happiness while following regulatory guidelines.

The role requires 1–3 years in financial services, FINRA Series 65, and a business/finance degree; CFP designation is preferred. Strong communication, detail orientation, and MS Office skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1-3 years of financial services industry experience in a broker/dealer or registered investment advisor environment.
• FINRA Series 65 required.
• Bachelor’s degree in business or finance; or equivalent proven experience.
• Certified Financial Planner designation preferred.
• Financial services & insurance sales experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of finance and investment markets/securities.
• Attention to detail and ability to coordinate multiple projects to meet deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Performs financial planning analyses for clients including retirement, investments, estate, tax, education funding, real estate, and risk management needs analysis.
• Prepares presentations, research, and supporting materials for client meetings and reviews.
• Conducts assessments of clients and prospects’ evolving financial planning needs and uncovers opportunities.
• Provides reports including distributions, performance, billing, and tax consequences.
• Calculates required minimum distributions, income needs, tax consequences, and contributions/withdrawals.
• Maintains high-level client contact to strengthen relationships.
• Keeps up-to-date on industry trends and products.
