Job summary

Talent Harbor in Plano, TX is seeking an Associate Financial Planner to work closely with a Senior Planner and serve about 60 long-term client relationships. This role focuses on tax expertise within financial planning and offers a clear path to seniority; on-site with flexible work-from-home days.

The ideal candidate is a CPA with tax experience who enjoys client-facing advisory work, and who can handle 40–50 hours per week during tax season while maintaining reasonable hours year-round.

Qualifications

• Active CPA license (CFP also considered).
• 3+ years of personal and/or business tax preparation experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field.
• Strong accounting fundamentals and working knowledge of Excel or Google Sheets.
• Comfortable presenting to clients, with a professional and respectful communication style.
• Coachable, eager to learn and team-first.
• Ability to work on-site in Plano, TX.
• U.S. work authorization without current or future employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review client consultations with the Senior Planner.
• Join client meetings and communicate directly with clients when the Senior Planner is unavailable.
• Advise clients on cash flow, investment allocation, tax planning, retirement, insurance, education and estate planning.
• Prepare and review personal and small business tax returns.
• Grow through structured training and mentorship to take on your own clients.

Salary: $106,500 to $115,000 Base + Year-End Bonus + Benefits

About the Opportunity

We’re partnering with a growing, fee-only financial planning and accounting firm specializing in dental professionals to hire an Associate Financial Planner for its Plano, Texas office.

This role pairs you with a Senior Planner to serve about 60 long-term client relationships, combining tax expertise with financial planning advice. It offers a clear path to becoming a Senior Planner with your own clients. This is not a sales role: new clients come through referrals.

The ideal candidate is a CPA with strong tax experience who wants a client-facing advisory career and reasonable hours, even in tax season (40 to 50 hours per week at most).
