Job summary

Macy's in New York, NY seeks an Associate for Executive Compensation to support enterprise-wide incentive programs. You will collaborate with senior leadership, manage equity award lifecycles, and ensure compliance and accurate reporting across Finance, HR, Legal, and Tax.

Job Overview

Associate, Executive Compensation supports the execution and administration of enterprise-wide incentive compensation programs for executive and professional colleagues. As a member of the Executive Compensation team, the associate collaborates with senior leadership and partners across Human Resources, Finance, Legal, and other key functions.

Responsibilities
  • Long-Term Incentive (LTI) Program Administration: Oversee the day-to-day administration of the LTI program, including modeling and analysis, financial planning and forecasting, participant communications, and education.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of equity awards, including grant approvals, vesting, exercises, settlements, and terminations.
  • Ensure the accuracy of grant tracking, reporting, reconciliations, and compliance with SEC, IRS, tax, and accounting requirements.
  • Monitor program performance and provide regular reporting and updates to key stakeholders.
  • Partner cross‑functionally with Compensation, HR Technology, Payroll, Benefits, Finance, and Tax teams to support accurate budgeting, processing, and reporting of equity awards through systems such as Oracle HCM and Charles Schwab.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for plan participants, people leaders, and HR/Talent Acquisition partners, responding to inquiries related to eligibility, vesting, taxation, and program design.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, strengthen controls, and improve the colleague experience.
  • Stay informed of market trends, industry best practices, and regulatory developments, providing insights and supporting the development of materials that facilitate program‑related discussions and decision‑making.
  • Proxy Support: Draft and review compensation‑related tables and disclosures for the annual proxy statement, including the Summary Compensation Table, Grants of Plan‑Based Awards, Outstanding Equity Awards, and Pay Versus Performance (PVP); support the development of the Compensation Discussion & Analysis (CD&A) section through data analysis, narrative drafting, and stakeholder review; serve as the primary liaison with proxy advisory firms such as Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS).
  • Governance & Compliance: Ensure compliance with corporate governance standards, regulatory requirements, and internal and external audit expectations across all areas of responsibility.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities; in addition to essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
  • Executive Compensation Administration: Demonstrated knowledge of executive compensation programs, including the administration of long‑term incentive plans, equity‑based compensation, and executive reward strategies.
  • Long-Term Incentive (LTI) Program Management: Proven ability to manage the full lifecycle of LTI programs, including grant administration, vesting, exercises, settlements, terminations, participant communications, and program education.
  • Equity Compensation Expertise: Strong understanding of equity award administration, grant tracking, reconciliations, and compliance requirements related to stock‑based compensation plans.
  • Financial Analysis and Forecasting: Advanced analytical skills with experience in compensation modeling, budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and evaluating program performance to support data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Proxy Statement and Disclosure Support: Experience preparing and reviewing executive compensation disclosures, including Summary Compensation Tables, Grants of Plan‑Based Awards, Outstanding Equity Awards, Pay Versus Performance (PVP), and Compensation Discussion & Analysis (CD&A) content.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Governance: Working knowledge of SEC regulations, IRS requirements, accounting standards, corporate governance principles, and audit controls related to executive and equity compensation programs.
  • Cross‑Functional Partnership: Ability to collaborate effectively with Human Resources, Finance, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, Tax, HR Technology, and Talent Acquisition teams to ensure accurate administration and reporting.
  • Compensation Systems and Technology: Proficiency working with HRIS and equity administration platforms such as Oracle HCM, Charles Schwab, and other compensation‑related technologies.
  • Reporting and Data Management: Skilled in maintaining accurate records, producing executive‑level reports, conducting reconciliations, and ensuring the integrity of compensation and equity data.
  • Process Improvement and Operational Excellence: Demonstrated success identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen internal controls, enhance participant experiences, and streamline compensation processes.
  • Stakeholder Management and Participant Support: Strong customer‑focused approach with the ability to serve as a trusted resource for executives, leaders, colleagues, and HR partners regarding compensation programs, eligibility, taxation, and plan design.
  • Communication and Influence: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop presentations, draft narratives, explain complex compensation concepts, and influence stakeholders across all organizational levels.
  • Attention to Detail and Confidentiality: Exceptional accuracy, organizational skills, and discretion in handling sensitive executive compensation information and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Project Management and Adaptability: Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, support special projects, and adapt effectively in a fast‑paced, highly regulated environment.
  • Education and Experience: Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
