Job summary

Brevard County in Melbourne is seeking an entry-level professional for the Natural Resources Save Our Indian River Lagoon Program. The role includes assisting on environmentally-related projects and programs and preparing grant applications and progress reports.

THIS POSITION IS APPOINTIVE SERVICE

$2,022.03 to $2,224.23 biweekly. Actual salary is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Melbourne/Travels Countywide. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and may include occasional evenings or weekends. Performs entry-level professional environmental work assisting in a variety of tasks on environmentally-related projects and programs for the Natural Resources Save Our Indian River Lagoon Program. Work includes preparing grant applications and grant progress reports to meet requirements established through local, state, and federal agencies.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in an Environmental, a Physical, or a Natural Science related to the area of assignment, including: Ecology and Wetland Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, Zoology, Marine Science, Resource Management, Marine Biology, Botany, Geology, Natural Resources, Hydrology and Hydrogeology, Conservation Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Planning Coastal Zone Management Environmental, and/or Engineering. Experience and knowledge of water quality, sediment analysis, grant writing and reporting, permit applications and project management is preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must complete all of the Brevard County Mandatory Training for the Development of New Employees classes within nine (9) months of employment. Must possess the ability to perform research and conduct surveys to support grant programs. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
