Job summary

Pickett, an ESP Associates company, is seeking an Associate Engineer to provide entry-level engineering and technical support on electric transmission design projects for high-voltage overhead utility systems in Austin, TX. You will assist with line routing, surveys, PLS-CADD modeling, and various design and procurement tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
• EI/EIT certification preferred.
• 1+ years of transmission line engineering experience preferred.
• Experience with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, ASCE and ACI.
• Ability to prepare thorough technical reports, calculations and sketches.
• Effective communication skills (verbal, written, presentation).
• Ability to pass drug screen, background check, and driving record requirements.

Responsibilities

• Learn and understand design criteria.
• Build design models using the PLS software suite.
• Develop and analyze foundation designs (e.g. FAD, FD6, APile, LPile).
• Spot structures and evaluate clearance and structural utilization in PLS-CADD.
• Evaluate design alternatives and run reports in PLS-CADD.
• Compose work packages and release letters.
• Produce estimates of man-hours and completion dates.
• Manage multiple tasks across projects.
