Our Tactical Space Systems Division Integration and Test group is seeking an Associate / Electronics Engineer (Level 1 or Level 2) who is a creative and energetic engineer to join our team in Dulles, VA. You will have the opportunity to design, develop, and execute test procedures and automated test scripts using spacecraft commands, telemetry, and electrical ground support equipment. The ideal candidate has system-level test experience working with spacecraft flight hardware and good computer skills. Daily responsibilities will include test preparation leading to direct contact with satellite and space flight hardware. Candidates must be able to tackle issues utilizing skills from the field of electrical engineering or a related discipline, preferably related to system-level integration and test. Required skills include the ability to communicate clearly and use critical thinking to troubleshoot problems. The ability to use a scripting language and formulate automated test scripts is highly desirable. International travel to support launch campaigns may be required. Shift and weekend work to support testing will be required periodically.
Responsibilities:
Use and apply technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques
Demonstrate the skill and ability to perform moderately complex professional tasks
Learn and understand NG test engineering practices and principles
General understanding of programming languages to evaluate, troubleshoot, test, and develop test software code
Understand both electrical circuits and software within the flight hardware and Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE)
Support EGSE and flight hardware test/troubleshooting efforts with minimal oversight
Participate in the anomaly resolution process while offering technical solutions for FRB approval
Travel and support different shifts when required
Provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of increasing scope and complexity
Follow established procedures
Have technical insight and experience to evaluate test set-up and results
Contribute to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects
Establish and maintain inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on routine matters
Basic Qualifications:
Associate Electronics Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering/Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent) with 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree with 0 years of related engineering experience
Electronics Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering/Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent) with 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree with 0 years of related engineering experience
Ability to listen effectively, take direction, and possess initiative to accomplish assigned tasks and complete work in a timely fashion
Ability to learn and integrate new programming languages based on previous experience
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance at time of application
Preferred Qualifications:
Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (SCI) clearance at time of application
Active Counter Intelligence (CI) Polygraph at time of application is highly preferred
Experience with Microsoft Visio, National Instruments LabView
Experience with hardware or software testing and test scripting
Experience in Electronics troubleshooting, RF test configuration testing, Environmental testing (Vibration Analysis/Thermal Vacuum chamber testing)
Experience in Automated Test Equipment usage and troubleshooting
Programming experience with Python, C, C++, Perl
Experience with version control tools (Subversion, Git)
Experience with Linux OS
Experience in Aerospace or Defense industry (development or test)
Salary Range: $87,000 - $101,000
Salary Range 2: $106,000 - $123,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company-paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
