Job summary

Trojan Battery Company in Attica, IN is seeking a Duty Cycle Associate to perform diversified testing on lead-acid batteries and components, under supervision. You will determine testing setups, document results, and ensure equipment calibration and safety procedures.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent with 3+ years of related testing experience, ability to work on the production floor, and lifting up to 50 pounds, with occasional weekend/on-call work as needed.

Position: Duty Cycle Associate Report To Title: Production Supervisor/General Supervisor Department: Charging Operations/Production Salary Band: 2 Location: Attica, IN Date: November 2017

Position Summary

Performs diversified testing on various lead acid batteries and battery components of a high degree of complexity. Normally works with charging supervisor and/or under the direction of the general supervisor. Determines equipment to be used in various tests. Maintains records and reports the results of various tests. Conducts tests in accordance with prescribed instructions and procedures. Participates in the proper care and maintenance of test equipment. Follows and suggests safety regulations for testing more.

Specific Responsibilities

• Completes designated plant tests, and analyzes for assurance of product quality and compliance of appropriate factory and analytical procedures, engineering, specifications, and bills of material.
• Conducts process capability studies as directed and calculates statistical control limits while monitoring and verifying in-process quality.
• Ensures that all measuring and test equipment is in proper compliance calibration, including duty cycles that comply with specific custom orders.
• Provides assistance to immediate supervisor on special assignments or programs and department projects.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Fills in supervisory roll when the shift supervisor is absent.

Decisions made or actions taken on own authority

• Performs duty cycles and any testing related to the required customer orders.
• Performs inspections as required in the written inspection procedures and inspection instructions.
• Completes any designated plant tests and analysis for assurance of product quality and compliance of appropriate factory and analytical procedures, engineering specifications.

Decisions/actions that require support of associates or higher approval

• Handling of batteries which do not fall within specified procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School or equivalent education and work experience plus 3 years of directly related work experience
• Skill and knowledge required of techniques in the use and application of testing and operating equipment with products involved

Work Conditions

Performance of responsibilities of position occurs on the production floor of a flooded battery manufacturing plant. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to lead, moving mechanical parts, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and requires hearing protection in some areas. Safety glasses with permanently attached side shields and steel-toed safety shoes are required in the manufacturing area. Other safety hazards and environmental conditions may require the use of additional personal protective equipment. Individual may need to be available for weekend work or on call depending on situation. This position requires the use of standard office equipment (telephone, fax, photocopy machine, personal computer, printer), lifting up to 50 pounds, and may involve climbing ladders. Some travel may be required in this position.
