Job summary

The University of Chicago Booth School of Business seeks an Associate Director of Research Operations and Infrastructure to lead day-to-day IT operations, HPC clusters, and data center services in a 24/7 environment. You will collaborate with faculty and researchers to tailor computational solutions and drive high-availability systems.

You will manage a team of system administrators and research staff, oversee budgets, disaster recovery planning, and work closely with Booth Information Security

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in technical fields such as computer science, engineering, or data science and Master’s degree preferred.
• Ten years of relevant experience with supervisory/leadership roles in higher education IT environments.
• Strong knowledge of HPC, data management, scientific workflows, and analytics.

Responsibilities

• Leads day-to-day operations and project management for systems and network infrastructure, including Windows and Linux servers, applications, databases, email, and backup services.
• Manages and mentors a team of system administrators and research support staff; oversees budget and resource planning.
• Collaborates with faculty and researchers to design tailored computational solutions for advanced research computing.
